the belief that extraterrestrial life has not yet been found by humanity because all other forms of either sentient or sapient life in The Cosmos have become extinct. Contrasted with preliminism.

ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY
Astro-English: from Astronese, the word dilate is used here to denote that which “is larger or wider” and along with the suffix -ism to denote “a belief” of some sort comes to form the notion that “extraterrestrial life has not been found by humanity because humanity exists long after all or most other sapient civilisations have died out”, hence to represent the opposite of the position held in preliminism.
